"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Some comments by the Scam-O-Matic about the following email:

An email address listed inside this email has been used in a known fraud before.
This email uses a separate reply address that is different from the sender address. Spammers use this to get replies even when the original spam sending accounts have been shut down. Also, sometimes the sender addresses are legitimate looking but fake and only the reply address is actually an email account controlled by the scammers.
The following phrases in this message should put you on alert:
- "fiduciary agent" (real lotteries do not use a "claim agent" / "fiduciary agent")
- "hundred thousand united states dollars" (they want you to be blinded by the prospect of quick money, but the only money that ever changes hands in 419 scams is from you to the criminals)

This email lists free webmail addresses. Use of such addresses is typical for scams. Lotteries, banks and any but the smallest of companies do not normally use such addresses. Criminals use them to anonymously send and receive email at Internet cafes.

My late husband was a honest man and good contractor who did so many contracts with oil and gas companies all around the globe. He and my two kids died in an accident years back since then i have been going through depression. I am presently at the specialist hospital in Canada where am taking treatment for a severe case of cancer and the doctor says i will not be able to survive and that i have less than few weeks to die looking at the extent of damage it has done to my body system. It was not discovered on time because of carelessness or rather how it was meant to be.

I really thank the God almighty for making me to see the sky of today and giving me strength and courage to make this decision after some many prayers and reason that i put in consideration, god directed me to contact you and i believe and trust that you will help me to fulfill my obligations. I have the sum of six million four hundred thousand united states dollars ($6.400.000.00 usd) cash deposited in a safe financial security company which i want you to inherit from me and use half of it for charity and humanitarian work and the remaining half you will keep for your self interest. I don't have any one to inherit this funds from me due to some reasons i and my late husband families did not support our marriage and were both isolated for so many years since we got married.
