"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

DearFriend,
It is my pleasure to get into touch with you today for a very
important reason. You have been introduced to me by a trusted friend
who believes that you could be worthy of business partnership. And
it is with trust and confidence I am writing to introduce myself to
you, and a business which we have kept very closely to heart over
the years. My names are Mr. Kenneth Obikalor, personal assistance to
Mr. Jackson Gaius Obaseki, former Group Managing Director of the
Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). I have been
mandated by my boss Mr. Jackson Gaius Obaseki,, to write you in
respect of this business. We would like to work with you for the
transfer of $68.3 million (sixty eight million US dollars) if you
are interested. Yes, I say if you are interested, because I know how
you might view an offer like this, considering all the evils going
on in the internet. For full detail of this matter, I shall wait for
your honest reply.
Sincerely,
Mr. kenneth Obikalor.
