"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: Dear Friend,

Dear Friend,

My names are Ms Selina Konate 23 yrs, My purpose of contacting you is for you to help me retrieve and secure the money left behind by my late father, to avoid it being confiscated or declared un-serviceable by the Bank. This fund is valued U.S.$5,000,000.00.

I know that my email may meet you as a surprize but this is due to the situation around me which i will let you know in the near future. I cannot be able to do this alone as i have decided to get this money abroad where it can be invested in a very good business. I am also hoping that my life and the money will be safe in your country. I will await your response so I can provide you with more details. Thank you.

Ms Selina Konate.
