"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Hello,

My name is Howgul Abul an associate to An Engineer, I Hope that you
will not expose or betray this trust and confident that I am about to
repose on you for the mutual benefit of our both families. I have the
opportunity of transferring the left over funds belonging to one of my
client. This client of mine was a companion to former Libyan President
Muhammar Gaddafi and Gaddafi was using him to run transactions
globally and the bottom line is that my client was assassinated in
Libyan. I am his personal attorney. My purpose of contacting you is
that my late client deposited funds valued at (US$28.4million) with
finance institution before his death without an heir apparent, NEXT OF
KIN, or beneficiary. I will like to present you as the NEXT OF KIN to
my late client in order for you to lay claim to the aforementioned
funds.

Please I would like you to keep this proposal as a top secret and
delete it if you are not interested. Upon receipt of your reply, I
will give you full details on how the business will be executed and
also note that you will have 40% of the above mentioned sum while 60%
will be for me, if you agree to handle this business with me.

I am expecting your urgent respond immediately. Please be advised that
the confidentiality of this transaction is non-negotiable. I
understand how vague my proposal is but on your indication of your
interest, I shall be more specific on the information you may require.
