"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: YOUR URGENT ATTENTION IS NEEDED

I am Mr. Martin Johnson, the Assistant Director Inspection Unit/United Nation Inspection Agent in Toronto Pearson International Airport in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. During my recent withheld package routine check at the Airport Storage Vault, I discovered an abandoned shipment from a Diplomat of the European Union and when scanned, revealed an undisclosed sum of money and the two Metal Trunk Boxes weighs 45kg each. The trunk boxes was abandoned because the content of the consignment was not properly declared by the consignee as “FUNDS” rather it was declared as personal belongings so as to avoid interrogation and also the inability of the diplomat to pay the appropriate due fees at the department of International Air Transport Authority which is approximately $5,500. Do not panic or worry about the Iata fee as I have already paid the sum ( $5500 ) but please give me an assurance that I will be rewarded with the total sum of 15% for being a great deal of help to you regard
ing your long awaiting Inheritance clause. Prior to my investigation, each of the boxes contained the sum of US$3 Million. The Airport Human Resources Department has concluded that if the consignment is not delivered today, it should be returned to its initial destination. Your name, email address and an official document from the United Nation's office in Geneva, Switzerland were attached to the trunk boxes. I am contacting you for this very reason, I want to know if you can be a great deal of help with 15% of the total sum and I will be a helping hand regarding your consignment at the YYZ International Airport.
