"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: RE: HELLO

Hello

I am Mr. Derek Steven, Director of United Nations Compensation Payments. I decided to contact you because of some unclaimed cash in my possession, a year ago 12 victims where compensated by United Nations and 11 candidates successfully had their cash delivered to them and one of the boxes was returned to my office as unclaimed. I have made several enquiries to locate the beneficiary, only to find out that he is deceased. I am here to inform you about my plan to send you the funds via cash delivery system; this system will be easier for you and for me without any trace. The total amount involved is US$8 million.

Note that the funds are coming in one security proof box which is sealed with Synthetic nylon seal and padded with machine. I will make use of my position to release this fund to you. The box is coming with a courier agent who will deliver it to you at your receiving address after clearing the consignment at your country airport.

If you are interested, do send the information below to enable us commence immediately.

i. Full Name:
ii. Address:
iii. Occupation:
iv. Phone No:

Note the Agent does not know the content in the box, the content was declared to him as a family inheritance. I will send you the combination to enable you access the box when the agent deliver it to you.

This is deal. As soon as you take delivery of the box, we will share it 50/50 between and I will come over to meet with you in your country.

Regards,
Derek Steven
