"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: Re: WE ARE PAYING NOW/ RECONFIRM INFORMATION.

Dear beneficiary,

CELEBRATING OUR NEW GOVERNMENT!

The questions and feedback we have been getting is this. Will Buhari
succeed? Our answer is this. Buhari has served in many military roles,
chased away a militia that was threatening Nigeria's security,
overthrew a civilian government when it became necessary and Nigeria
economy was collapsing. He then became Head of State, fought
corruption and went ahead to instill discipline among stubborn
Nigerians. We do not have many of his kind in Nigeria and even around
the world today. Now he has signified his first interest to lead by
example by paying foreign beneficiaries all funds owed to
them...beneficiaries like you.

You are therefore required to send in your current payment information
for the release of your outstanding $6,500,000 from the Central Bank
treasury account to you. Be reminded that all payments are on first
come and first served and all protocols must be observed. But be rest
assured you will be paid if acted upon urgently within the next 14
banking days.

Thank you,
Ngozi Okonma
Foreign Remittance Department,
Central Bank
