"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: Re Business proposal

Dear Friend,

I want you to know that I did not come across you by mistake, I purposely contacted you through the way I'm able to before we can go into details.Your personality motivated me after going through your profile and I decided to contact you because you have the same surname with our late client in the bank here. Because of means of internet communication which is frequent nowadays in this globe and is scarcely to believe anyone easily. The most important why I contacted you is because of your Surname because I need someone with the same Surname as you to carry the project with me.I will like to explain to you here in my email. I handle all our Investor's capital Project Funds which enables me to divert 1.2 Percent Investors Excess Return Capital Funds with a name which I will reveal to you later, so that you can help me to claim the funds since you have the same surname with the owner of the account where I move the fund. I contacted you with the strong belief that together we can actualize this project and share the proceeds, I have within my grasp the instrument to bring this project to a successful conclusion if only I can have your assistance and co-operation.

Now this is the situation and the reason why I have the funds secured in the said account. The Name which I will reveal to you later after I hear from you regards to this was an Investor who has used our bank to transfer huge amount of money from one country to the other doing business, at the moment the man is dead but before his death there was nothing left in his account. So after I diverted this Fund, I secured it in his empty account so that it will be easy to claim by such Surname like you as beneficiary and/or next of kin to the trust since you have the same surname with the account owner. The fund does not belongs to him neither is anybody aware that I was the one that have the money secured there.I have everything put in place for us to have a smooth and un-interrupted execution of this project and as soon as you provide the bank with all the relevant documents that the bank might requested for which I shall provide you with, the funds shall be release and transfer to you as the ethics of the banking rules stipulated.

So, treat this deal with utmost seriousness, secrecy and confidentiality that is associated with it. All that needs be done is for you to make a formal application for the release of the fund to you as next-of-kin to the trust. Of course I will guide and guard you on how to do this. We can conclude this transaction within 9-Banking/working days and have the money in your account after which I will want you to immediately transfer my share to a private account in an offshore account, details of which I will give you later when I meet you in person for my own share.

I want you to rest assured that everything has been taken care of and put in place for us to have a smooth and un-interrupted execution of this project all I need is your assurance of trust. I look forward in having a wonderful working relationship with you and also meeting you in person soon, Remain Bless.

Yours Sincerely,
Mrs Ronke Kenny.
