"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: Waiting

Good day

I am a financial consultant to the group managing director of the
Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation(NNPC),my client who is actively
in service advised me to look for a reliable person that can manage
the sum of$1.5 billion on his behalf confidentially. This fund he made
over years from some oil merchants he assisted in buying Nigerian
crude through the Government Allocations , who finally appreciated his
candid assistance to them and rewarded him by cash and gifts.

However, since the Nigerian Law does not permit a civil servant to
handle such fund or operate a foreign account with such huge sum, he
now confided in me to look for a reliable foreigner (person) within
the oil trading sector, who could manage this fund for him , if
possible, he could use it to lift Crude oil after he might have
successfully secured this fund to his custody. He is willing to help
such person buy Nigerian Crude as he wishes. It was based on this
note that i contacted you to seek your opinion.

The fund in question has been fully secured in a nearby country with
good arrangement, all we need is your interest and willingness so
that we can meet in person and work this out and discuss further on
other related issues. You will be rewarded fully which is subject to
discussion/ negotiation.Note that there is no risk of any kind
attached to this.
