"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: For your attention and urgent response

For your confidential attention and urgent response:

I am Rhodes Rappinet, attorney practicing out of south Africa. Here, I am
mandated by Sam Sert Ltd to make contact for someone interested in
business representation. My client has the mandate to help trace and
locate fund and assets illegally looted and obtained by the government of
late Mammar Gaddafi. Please find the link below for more information:
http://www.timeslive.co.za/local/2013/06/02/gaddafi-billions-found-in-sa1?ref=yfp

However, my client recognizes that persons/companies that conduct legal
business during this period will be unduly affected. Thus, While my client
is committed to helping the government of libya in the fund recovery, they
also wish to ensure that relatives of persons who conduct legal business
during this period are not deprived of their due entitlements and funds.

I am contacting you to represent one such relative in claiming some funds,
and helping to invest in your country in the meanwhile. More information
about the process will be given to you upon your response and indication
of interest. Reply should be copied to: rrappinet@gmail.com
It is very important to inform you that this is not a scam letter, but
genuine business opportunity.

Yours faithfully,
Barrister Rhodes Rappinet
