"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: Bank Fund Transfer

Dear Sir,

I am Mr. Joseph Dunn from South Africa, I work with Sandton Investment
Bank South Africa where I act as the branch manager, with due respect, I am
contacting you to seek your confidence in this business that am presenting
to you.

In my branch I discovered an abandoned sum of US$47,000,000.00 in an
account that belongs to one of our foreign customer an oil businessman from
Syria, Eng. Jassem Shawkat who died in bomb explosion in Syria with his
entire family.

The bank have tried to search for any of his relative without positive
result, I don't want the money to go into our bank treasury as an abandoned
fund, I decided to contact you and ask for your help so that the bank can
release this money to you as the next of kin relative to the deceased
customer, I will file the necessary next of kin letter of claim on your
behalf, and the bank will approve the release of the sum immediately. Note
that you will have 20% of the above mentioned sum if you agree to handle
this business with me and 80% will be for me which I will like to
investment under your management. I await your urgent reply via my private
email below.
