"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

I am Mr. Baba Yusuf Musa, the Director Debt Management Department of West African Institute for Financial and Economic Management (WAIFEM) As a matter of fact, we have reviewed your payment files today and you are hereby mandated to stop every communication with any other office(s) or person(s) concerning your payment. You are hereby instructed to deal only with the WAIFEM and this will determine the legitimacy of your claim, and to ensure the security and uninterrupted transfer of the fund into your bank account.  
 
Having said that, you are directed to contact Mr. Christian Kedze, the Director Macroeconomic Management Department Ghana for the final review of your file and immediate transfer of your funds without any delay. The ONLY fee you are required to pay to WAIFEM approval is $250 and you are mandated to send the money to Macroeconomic Management Department and a receipt of payment will be issued to you.
