"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Some comments by the Scam-O-Matic about the following email:

An email address listed inside this email has been used in a known fraud before.
This email uses a separate reply address that is different from the sender address. Spammers use this to get replies even when the original spam sending accounts have been shut down. Also, sometimes the sender addresses are legitimate looking but fake and only the reply address is actually an email account controlled by the scammers.
The following phrases in this message should put you on alert:
- "million united states dollars" (they want you to be blinded by the prospect of quick money, but the only money that ever changes hands in 419 scams is from you to the criminals)
This email message is a "dying widow" scam.
This email lists free webmail addresses. Use of such addresses is typical for scams. Lotteries, banks and any but the smallest of companies do not normally use such addresses. Criminals use them to anonymously send and receive email at Internet cafes.

Greeting beloved

I thank God for making it possible for me to be in contact with you this
day. My name is ( Rose Annika) from Sweden. I was married to (Dr. Fredrick
Gabriel); who died on the 28th November 2015.

Until his death he served as an archdeacon in the St.Pauls Archdeaconry in
Cote dâ€™Ivoire for 14 years. We were married for 23 years without any child.
His death occurred after a brief illness that lasted for four days, he was
my whole life and everything I loved and cared for.

After all these childless years, he was very supportive in every way.

When my late husband was alive he deposited the sum of (US$5.000.000.00)
Five Million United States Dollars in a Fiduciary Fund Holder in London,
England for Establishment and Development of Charity Organization's but
unfortunately his death did not allow him to actualize his project.

I am in need of an honest and sincere person whom I will entrust this fund:

(FOR THE ESTABLISMENT OF ORPHANAGE HOME, FOOD PANTRIES, and etc FOR THE
POOR PEOPLE ARROUND THE WORLD).
Just Some Few Months Ago, Medical Experts confirmed to me that I am
suffering from kidney problem and cancer disease and my present health
situation is in a very critical shape, I don't know what might happen to me
in the next few days or weeks that is the reason I am taking this bold
decision.

Having known my present health condition I decided to make the donation of
this fund to any religious organization (Christian, Muslim or Buddha) or
individuals who can in real honesty utilize the Fund the way I stated.

I and my late husband have always believed in giving and I know that
blessed is the hand that gives. This decision was mainly taken because I
donâ€™t have any child who will inherit this fund. That is why I am taking
this bold decision. If the fund is withdrawn it will go to My WISH which I
have stated above and that was the agreement I had with my husband before
he died.

I am not afraid of death hence I know where I am going. I know that I am
going to be in the bosom of the Lord. I may not need any telephone
communication because of my present health situation.

As soon as I receive your reply I will give you the contact address of the
nurse who is looking after me who will forward you the contact of the
Fiduciary Fund Holder so that you can contact them on how they will
transfer the money to your preferred destination. I want you with the whole
of your congregation to always pray for me because the lord will protect me.

Beloved, I want you to know that any delay in your reply will automatically
push me to look for another religious organization or individual for this
same purpose.
