"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

RE: Request for Business cooperation

I am Wonga Sarawut, a family law attorney in Bangkok, Thailand. I got your name and contact information through an online directory and I am writing to you in reference to my deceased client a citizen of your country, who died along with his family in Thailand tsunami in 2004 and left behind an account balance of 19.8 Million US Dollar.

Below is the tsunami link to view the full story.

All efforts to identify any of the deceased relatives were fruitless, and his account may soon be declared unserviceable and consequently confiscated by the Thai government. Hence, I would like to request your assistance in order to put forward a claim as a relative of my deceased client so that these funds will be paid to you, and shortly thereafter the funds shall be shared equally between me and you, rather than handing it over to the government.

You can rest assured that there is no risk involved in the process because my client died without leaving a will. Moreover, I shall provide expert advice that will guarantee the successful execution of this deal. If you are interested and in agreement with me, please contact me as soon as possible; I shall provide you with more details and how we shall proceed with the claims. I hope we can work together, which will be mutually beneficial for both of us.

I look forward to your positive reply soon so we can make progress.

Yours sincerely,
Wonga Sarawut, Esq.
