"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Some comments by the Scam-O-Matic about the following email:

This email uses a separate reply address that is different from the sender address. Spammers use this to get replies even when the original spam sending accounts have been shut down. Also, sometimes the sender addresses are legitimate looking but fake and only the reply address is actually an email account controlled by the scammers.
The following phrases in this message should put you on alert:
- "a security company " (this will cost you money - be careful with upfront payments to anyone you only know through email, especially if they promise you a lot of money. NEVER send money by Western Union or MoneyGram to people you do not know personally - NO EXCEPTIONS! Instant wire transfer services are not meant to be used with strangers because they offer no protection against fraud. That is precisely why the criminals want you send money that way. )
- "i will advice you " (this email uses bad English)
- "diplomatic agent" ("diplomats" who perform deliveries of cash or other valuables to you only exist in 419 scams)

Attention my dear,

After all the several attempt to reach you failed, I felt expedient to write to you and inform you about a wicked conspiracy hatched by (Mr. Anthony Chukwuma and Mrs. Olivia Larry) from Ministry Of Finance, in collaboration with Mr. Phillip to divert your fund to their designated account in Cayman Island UAE for their selfish interest but unfortunately, they could not succeed.

We found out that they moved the fund to a security company in United State and then moved it again to Banco Italiano in Italy before they finally moved the fund to a security company in Benin Republic. They are processing the transferring of the fund to their designated account in Cayman Island UAE. They kept telling stories and delaying the transferring of the fund to you in other to buy time pending to transfer the fund to their designated account in Cayman Island UAE, to enable them embezzle the fund successfully, but I'm very happy that a true Christian at the security company exposed them.

From my position as the Relation Officer in this office, I wish to inform you that after the last meeting with the board of the directors, we arranged with a special delivery officer Mr. James Murray to convey the fund directly to you in other to avoid further delay and also unnecessary tax from you by your government and Banking transfer charges and delay.

Right now, the delivery agent Mr. James Murray is at the Albany International Airport New York City, United State and he is about to proceed to your house to deliver the fund to you.

Although the looters escaped, I'm assuring you that the Police must get them arrested and they must pay for the wicked conspiracy. I knew that they might be contacting you claiming to still have your fund with them or promising to deliver the fund to you but believe me, that is a mission impossible because they do not have access to the fund anymore, but I promise you that the Police must get them arrested for their criminal act.

I'm sure they might be contacting you to request for money from you since they did not succeed in diverting the fund successfully to their designated account in Cayman Island UAE. I am advising you to seize any communication with any body claiming to be your representative apart from the diplomatic agent I directed you to, Mr. James Murray so we do not terminate the delivery of the fund to you.

You are required to get back to me immediately you receive this email and reconfirm your current delivery address so I can forward it to the delivery agent Mr. James Murray, so he can proceed immediately to your house and deliver the fund to you immediately today.
