"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Read more about such scams here or in our 419 FAQ. Use the Scam-O-Matic to verify suspect emails.

Dear Internet User,

Your email ID has won the total sum of GBP1, 000.000.00 (One Million Pounds Sterling) during the Platinum Foundation electronic E-mail online Powerball Draws For Internet Users.

The Platinum Foundation is the organizers of the Platinum Foundation Promo, Euro Millions, Monthly Play, Thunder ball, Hot picks, and Lotto Extra which is an internet giveaway program whereby email addresses are being extracted from the internet and the winners are being determined from a ballot draw.

Luckily it happened that your e-mail address attached to ballot number: (04-05-06-12-20-29-30) with Serial number 5368/02 drew the lucky numbers: 13-45-02-23-62-31 which subsequently won you the lottery in the 3rd category i.e. match 5 plus bonus. You have therefore been approved to claim a total sum of £1 Million Pounds Sterling, credited to File PLATUK/9GM/327739.. Note, that tickets were not sold for this program hence, the above enlightenment is all on the subject of how you became a winner of our giveaway program.

You are advised to contact the claims department immediately to redeem your prize.
