"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Some comments by the Scam-O-Matic about the following email:

This email uses a separate reply address that is different from the sender address. Spammers use this to get replies even when the original spam sending accounts have been shut down. Also, sometimes the sender addresses are legitimate looking but fake and only the reply address is actually an email account controlled by the scammers.

Hi,

My name is Evans, I have been directed by Edward Frank of the Procurement
Department to send this email to you.

Greetings to you dear friend,

My name is Frank Edward, I am an Assistant Procurement manager with a
Laboratories in the United Kingdom. I am soliciting your consent for an
opportunity to supply saffron products to our laboratory. Saffron is a
spice derived from the flower of Crocus sativus, commonly known as the
"saffron crocus". Saffron constitutes 70% of the ingredients that our
laboratory uses for the development and production of drugs / Vaccines for
the treatment of HIV and CANCER worldwide.

I recently got privy to the local farmers contact and realized that our
Suppliers make over US$15M on quarterly basis. I discovered that they buy
from the growers @ !,300 and sell to our laboratory @ 2,700 per sachet of
250g.

I wish to collaborate with you to become the new supply merchant of the
above raw material to our laboratory; this became necessary due to
employment policy that restricts an employee to carry out such a contract.
I will communicate full details upon hearing from you as all needed
contacts of the growers are in my possession.
