"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: World Expo Exhibition: Can You Be Trusted?

This sender has been verified from  xxxxx.xxx safe senders list.

Good Morning xxx@mail3.upandunderblog.com,

I offer my friendship and believe you will accept me with a good heart. So when I saw your profile on World Expo, BIE-International Registered exhibitions listings, I decided to add you and write to you this message to see how best we can assist each other.

I am Maryann Woods, a Bank Officer here in Hampden & Co PLC, UK. I believe that it is God's wish for me to meet you now. I have an important business discussion I wish to share with you which I believe will interest you because it is in connection and business you will benefit from it.

Your Country's citizen, Jonas had a fixed deposit with my bank, valued at £14,500,000.00 (Fourteen Million Five Hundred Thousand Pounds) the due date for this deposit was last year. Sadly,  Jonas was among the death victims on April 24th, 2020 on a covid 19 outbreak in which United Kingdom recorded over 100’s infected cases with covid 19 in April and about 21 people dead on the 24th.

My bank management does not know about his death till now, I knew about it because he was my friend and I was his account officer.
Jonas did not mention any Next of Kin and Heir when the account was opened, and he was not married and had no children. I wish to share with you because I believe it will interest you because it is in connection with  your last name and you will benefit from it.

Last week, my Bank Management had a meeting, for a bank verification exercise to note dormant and abandoned deposit accounts. After which, they requested that I should give instructions on what to do about his funds if the contract should be renewed. I know this will happen, and that is why I have been looking for a means to handle the situation, because, if my bank directors happen to know that Jonas is dead and do not have any Heir, they will take the funds for their personal use, so I don't want such to happen. That was why when I saw your last name I was happy.

I am now seeking your co-operation to present you as the Next of Kin and Heir to the account since you have the same last name and the same nationality with him, my bank headquarters will release the account to you through my help. There is no risk involved; the transaction will be executed under a legitimate arrangement that will protect you from any breach of the law. It is better that we claim the money, instead of allowing the Bank Directors to take it because they are rich already. I am not a greedy person, so I am suggesting we share the funds equally, 50/50 to both parties, my share will assist me to start my own company, and use the profit for charity - which has been my dream. Tell me your mind on my proposal.. Please, treat this information as confidential. I shall give you more details once I receive your urgent response.
