"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Dear good friend,

Forgive my interferences, my name is Barr. Anthony Reino, I am the chief solicitor and insurance claims expert at Anthony Reino Professional Corporation here in Toronto Canada. You may be surprised to receive this letter from me since there has been no prior correspondence between us. I am writing to you regarding an unclaimed "Canada Life Assurance Policy" held by my late client Mr. Robert, which passed away eight years ago. Unfortunately, my client did not leave a written will before his death and his life insurance contract states that the proceeds of this estate will be confiscated by the Government if no one shows up for the claim after eight years of his death. Therefore, I ask for your consent to work with me to obtain this insurance benefit since you have the same nationality as my client.

Since I am the lawyer who assisted him during the procurement of this life insurance, if you allow me to add your name to the policy as his cousin, all revenue will be processed on your behalf and immediately transferred to your account in your country. I want to point out that I want some of the proceeds to be donated to the victims of the earthquake in Turkey while the remaining will be shared equally among us.
