"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Some comments by the Scam-O-Matic about the following email:

This email uses a separate reply address that is different from the sender address. Spammers use this to get replies even when the original spam sending accounts have been shut down. Also, sometimes the sender addresses are legitimate looking but fake and only the reply address is actually an email account controlled by the scammers.
The following phrases in this message should put you on alert:
- "required fee " (this will cost you money - be careful with upfront payments to anyone you only know through email, especially if they promise you a lot of money. NEVER send money by Western Union or MoneyGram to people you do not know personally - NO EXCEPTIONS! Instant wire transfer services are not meant to be used with strangers because they offer no protection against fraud. That is precisely why the criminals want you send money that way. )
- "consignment " (they want you to be blinded by the prospect of quick money, but the only money that ever changes hands in 419 scams is from you to the criminals)
- "deadline" (scammers rush victims so they don't have time to think properly)

Once again This is to inform you that we have been doing a bonanza,
since three days ago and it will end up on the 12th of march 2023, our
main objective of doing this bonanza is to help out all the
Beneficiary that was unable to receive his Parcel or package or
consignment box and ATM CARD.

So, if it happens that you have a package or consignment box and ATM
CARD that you did not receive, and you have paid a fee to receive it
before but along the line, another problem occurs please indicate
yourself immediately and mention the office or company that you spent
the money to. Secondly, the cooperative body did this meeting last
week and approved this bonanza in order to help out those
Beneficiaries through this means, and it will cost you only $50
dollars to receive your own package, consignment or ATM CARD if you
are involved OK.

Finally, you are advised to buy a steam wallet card for $50 dollars or

message so that within 5 working hours your package or consignment box
or ATM CARD will get to your destination with your giving information.

Please note that you have 5 working days as a deadline and as of today
and after receiving this message if you did not pay this required fee
this ATM Card will be forwarded to a government office. so if you
donâ€™t have the $$50.00 try to borrow it and send it immediately today
or tomorrow because this is your life opportunity and I donâ€™t want you
to lose the chance anymore. Pay by Apple Gift Card, or a steam wallet,
scratch it and send a copy of the photo to enable the delivery to
commence
