"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: VERY URGENT

My name is Mr. Mustapha Ahmed. I am a Banker with the African Development
Bank and I will be retiring in the next few months. I write to solicit for
your kind assistance to help me invest the total sum of $20M in your
country in any good business of your choice where I will rely on after my
retirement.

This fund belonged to my late client who is from the United Kingdom of
which I was his account officer.

To secure this fund from my Bank here in Africa I was able to make special
arrangements with an online Banking in the UK Banks which I succeeded in
opening an online account and was able to transfer all the fund into same
account while waiting for a reliable person or company that would help me
have this fund invested for our mutual benefits.

Please, if you can build my confidence in you, I would not hesitate in
working with you so I can allow you access to the account where this fund
is deposited so that you can make online transfers to settle for any
investments we must be into.

I await your urgent attention on this to enable me know my next step.

Regards,
Mr. Mustapha Ahmed.
