"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam
The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.
Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.
Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Some comments by the Scam-O-Matic about the following email:
- This email uses a separate reply address that is different from the sender address. Spammers use this to get replies even when the original spam sending accounts have been shut down. Also, sometimes the sender addresses are legitimate looking but fake and only the reply address is actually an email account controlled by the scammers.

Subject: CONSIGNMENT TRUNK BOXES
I am David Brown, Head Officer-in-Charge, Administrative Service Inspection
Unit United Nations Inspection Agency in Hartsfield-Jackson International
Airport Atlanta, Georgia. During our investigation, I discovered an
abandoned shipment through a Diplomat from the United Kingdom which was
transferred from JF Kennedy Airport. The consignment was abandoned because
the Content was not properly declared by the consignee as M O N E Y rather
it was declared as personal effect/classified document to either A V O I D
diversion by the Shipping Agent or confiscation by the relevant
authorities. The diplomat's inability to pay for Non Inspection fees among
other things are the reason why the consignment is delayed and abandoned.
By my assessment, each of the boxes contains $ 4M which is a total of $
8Million USD. They are still left in the airport storage facility till T
O D A Y. The Consignments like I said, are two metal trunk boxes
weighing about 65kg each (Internal dimension: W61 x H156 x D73 (cm)
effective capacity: 680 L) Approximately. The details of the consignment
including your N A M E and email on the official document from the United
Nations' office in London where the shipment was tagged as personal
effects/classified document is still available with us.
