"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR, CENTRAL BANK OF NIGERIA (CBN)

Greetings,

I'm Mr GODWIN EMEFIELE, Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
I know you may be surprised receiving this message, however, i got
your email address while searching for a trustworthy individual or
company that will provide a safe account i can urgently transfer the
sum of $50,000 000 million ($50 million, united state dollars). It's
just my Urgent need for a foreign partner that made me contact you for
this transaction.

There are so many abandoned funds due to the new policies,
rules/regulations of CBN. As the Executive Governor, Central Bank of
Nigeria (CBN). I have the privilege of transferring the abandoned
Funds amounting to ($50 million united state dollars), which I
discovered as an abandoned funds in accounts that belongs to some
corrupt politicians and Late Mr, Abah Kyari, the former chief of
staff to Nigeria President MUHAMMADU BUHARI, who was diagnosed with
Covid-19 and died on 17/04/2020 (Septembe 23,1952– April 17-2020).

Hence, I am inviting you for a business deal, where this money can be
shared between us in the ratio of 50/40 while 10% is set aside to
cover up all the expenses.

Meanwhile, no next of kin was discovered, so the Central Bank of
Nigeria (CBN) will release this fund immediately you apply with a due
application as next of kin. You don't have to worry about anything, i
am here to protect and guide you until our bank releases the fund to
you as the next of kin.

I don't want to transfer the money into Nigeria Federal Government
account as an unclaimed fund, as required at the end of every
accounting year, this is the reason why I am contacting you for this
transaction. Nigeria President Mr. MUHAMMADU BUHARI will be leaving
office soon, and i Mr. GODWIN EMEFIELE will be stepping down as the
Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria(CBN) so the incoming president would
assume the money is part of what MUHAMMADU BUHARI led Government
spent.
