"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Some comments by the Scam-O-Matic about the following email:

This email uses a separate reply address that is different from the sender address. Spammers use this to get replies even when the original spam sending accounts have been shut down. Also, sometimes the sender addresses are legitimate looking but fake and only the reply address is actually an email account controlled by the scammers.

This email lists mobile phone numbers. Use of such numbers is typical for scams because they allow criminals to conceal their true location. They can receive calls in an Internet cafe from where they send you emails, while pretending to be in some office.

Pls kindly note the following:

1.revert with the competitive agent PDA as soon as possible.Pls kindly note=
d we are the charterer agen, the cost regarding owner's is not permitted to=
included into our account.

2.Please advise discharge prospects, whether vessel's berthing is scheduled=
on arrival and All is in order.

3.If berthing delays are anticipated, following info are promptly needed:

When official application of berthing was filed

When nomination of cargo was made.

Status of berth on vsl's arrival and/or during waiting. If possible let us =
know the names of occupying vessels

Reasons of any other delays

4.Please advise us short/medium term weather forecast for the port, particu=
larly when bad weather is likely to affect or to cause interruption of carg=
o operations and in case of bad weather (high winds, swell, fog etc) whethe=
r port or terminal is closed, whether berth is occupied or free, name of ve=
ssel alongside and line up of the vessels on the roads.

5.On sailing please advise whether terminal or port observed any deficienci=
es, violations or non-compliance of vessel and her crew with loading perfor=
mance, safety, pollution or other regulations. PLEASE NOTE that even if eve=
rything went smooth you are kindly requested to confirm on sailing that an =
incident free operation WAS carried out.

6.Kindly provide us with the port/berth restrictions for our records and to=
keep master well informed. Pls inform us immidiately if any abnormal restr=
iction for vsl.

7.All documents to be forwarded to us immediately after vessels departure
